On the plane

We were supposed to take off at 5:05 and we are still on the ground.

Apparently we are traveling at a different altitude and need a different plan and mare fuel.

No way are we making our Nice connection.

On the plane

So far we've been delayed by 30 minutes and it looks like another 30. Rich is taking it pretty well.

On the plane

We're on the plane!

Our seats are on the side to the rear of the plane. I think it will work out pretty well.

At DFW

We're on our way!

We're currently at DFW waiting for our flight.

It's definately Spring Break!

TSA was interesting. Since I wear an insulin pump, I have to be patted down. The worst part, though, was the CPAP battery. Next time I will know to pull that out of the bag along with the computer.

It just keeps getting better...

Periodically we've heard from PokerStars (they are footing most of the bill), and it's been super.

Last week they told us they were giving us one helicopter ride from the airport to Monte Carlo. We'll pay for the second.

This week was better. We found out there were vouchers for the guests for meals. This is something we were worried about. Both our breakfasts are included, but only Rich's meal during the tournament was. That meant I needed to find somewhere else to eat, since the restaurants in the hotel are 80 euros minimum, according to their website.

Well, the vouchers are available for 25 euros. Not cheap, but not 80 euros either!

I need to find out how to type in the euro symbol.

Casino clothing...

I got to rehearse my casino clothing tonight at our school fundraiser. Everyone thought it worked -- but I'll probably need different shoes. I don't wear heels often.

I managed to snag a bunch of seperates, skirts and tops, left over from Christmas party wear. It isn't easy to find party stuff when you are my size.

Getting Ready

Of course we got our passports weeks ago -- Rich and I haven't needed them until now. We've both got those things you put your passport and money in to hang them around your neck so they can't be easily pickpocketed.

I'm slowly packing. I picked up a rolling carry on bag at Walmart, that comes with a cosmetic bag and a small bag you can carry on your shoulder. I've already put my nightgown and a change of clothing including underwear in that bag.

I'm planning to put CPAP equipment + battery, notebook computer, the change of clothing and my medications in the carry on bag. I'll have my usual emergency diabetic supplies in my shoulder bag, that I usually carry.

I've gotten two sets of travel toiletries already and put them in the cosmetic bag, and put one week of meds in their, along with miscellaneous, sometimes I use medication.

Just trying to remember everything. I also need to check and make sure that the medication labels for insulin and blood sugar meter stuff are current.

One Week + One Day Away

Sometime, right after Christmas, my husband won a poker tournament through Poker Stars. The prize:

A trip to Monte Carlo, to play in the European Poker Tour.

I've decided to blog the trip.
