Husband is home

I picked him up this evening -- he got the same flight (but different day), than I did.

He's glad to be back home.

He did a lot of sightseeing and enough poker playing that he left Nice with more money than he came with.

Home

I am home, slept pretty well last night considering and well a WHOLE lot better.

I talked to Rich, he made it to Monte Carlo, made it to the party, and played a poker tournament last night and had a good time.

He starts playing today.

Almost home

The flight is about an hour from Dallas and after have eaten a lunch, gotten some sleep, and eaten a snack I'm feeling better.

I am still very glad to have made the decision to come on home. I wish I could have made the trip to Monte Carlo but I just couldn't.

I'm sure one of the reasons American was willing to make the flight change is that this flight is only half full.

Gatwick

It has been a bit scary here. I met up with American Airlines for the first time. When they found out who I was, I was put in a seperate area and treated differently. Since my husband had told them I was suicidal, I am a bit afraid I'm having to go through different security sceening. I think not though.

The good news is that I am at the gate and they moved me to an earlier flight which will get me home two hours earlier.

Back in London

I made it back to Heathrow and am currently on my way to Gatwick.

So far coming back has been the right decision. Things have gone much smoother so far.

I had some Euros don't remember how much but I converted them at Heathrow and ended up with just two pounds and 40 pence more than I needed for the bus.

I was standing next to a pretty young girl waiting when I asked if the bus was going to Gatwick which it wasn't. The one she and I wanted was behind us. We both were able to get on. Come to find out she is booked on the flight I think I am on.

Yes I think. they did not give me the flight number in Nice.

Anyway, she is visiting a sister in the next suburb over from our suburb.

Flying back

Still not sleeping.

I'm not sure what happened with the booking but if I had known this I would have freaked out again.

Rich thought I was flying to Zurich and getting into Dallas before 3:00 pm Dallas time.

We got to the airport and the flight had been cancelled. Instead I was booked to Heathrow then bus to Gatwick. Then I fly to Dallas. I was so relieved to have a flight any flight that I did care and I might have made a fatal error. I checked my CPAP in as checked luggage. We'll have to see how that works out. Right now I wait for the flight.

The hotel

Interesting place. Park Inn Nice. Very clean, very very small. Staff was friendly.

Unfortunely I couldn't sleep there. The adapter I got from Radio Shack burned out. I then managed to blow out all the lights in the room. I couldn't get the computer or internet to work. The Treo wouldn't work.

I freaked.

nothing I needed to survive worked. I begged Rich to get me home. I am not sure what he told American but they changed my flight without charging me but told him I needed a doctor to write a letter that I could fly.

Flight delayed

So we finally made it to London..

i'm short sleep badly. We were told our connection would be handled when we got off the plane and it was not.

We had to walk forever only to find out the connection had not been rescheduled. They had to retrieve our baggage for us and then we took an extremely long and boring ride to Heathrow.

We were told the wrong terminal and walked forever to be told we had to wait to check our bags.

So we got something to eat and waited. Checked our bags and waited again.

We finally got to Nice at 8:00 and got picked up by the hotel shuttle.

The shopping center

The only problem with the hotel was that they did not have 24 hour food service. Breakfast was expensive but very good and very French.

After we got the doctor thing done we needed to eat. We got the hotel shuttle and the driver suggested the shopping center.

Very interesting. One of the things affecting my sleeping is the cigarette smoke. Everyone seems to smoke everywhere and constanty.

The smoke also makes everything look dirty.

There were dogs in the shopping center. The dogs in France are interesting. Our dogs in public are much more physically fit and groomed better. It is not a real fair comparison because the dogs I see in public are usually competing in something.

Our meal was very good there. We had Pepsi Max which is there diet pepsi. Lasagna Bolonese . It was a lot cheaper than breakfast.

We went to the grocery before we left the shopping center. I found gummy bears, mostly to aggravate Rich, diet coke, and some wonderful chocalate.

Of course, we could not operate the phones but got someone to dial and get the shuttle.

One really bad thing happened there. We saw a man on the floor being restrained by police and covered in blood.

Absolute trip from h***

I'm coming home tomorrow as the trip has been the absolute trip from hell.

I should have gotten off the plane in Dallas, and the trip just kept getting worse and worse.

Somehow Rich convinced American Airlines to put me on a flight to Zurick and back to Dallas tomorrow after noon.

More details on my diabetes blog when I get back.
