Certain Drugs May Be as Effective as Surgical Management for GERD

So maybe I did make the right decision by not doing the surgery thing this Xmas. Of course, I can always change my mind, but the GERD does seem better lately.

I also considered GERD surgery. My doctor is HIGHLY against the surgery. He insists that if drugs don't work, keep trying other drugs- because the surgery has a low effectiveness. He said if I had the surgery I could expect MAYBE a year off meds because I was back on meds, and possibly needing more surgery. My GI doctor says he does not recommend it to anyone. My current GERD treatment: 30mg Prevacid, twice a day, 10mg Reglan as needed, 10ccs Carafate as needed, 17 grams Miralax every other day, 25 mg Phenergan as needed, and 300 mg Zantac as needed.
