Latest on the Apidra
Yes, I am still using it. I have another vial left.
I finally have my blood sugars at "normal". Today I was running around 110 with a total amount of insulin since midnight of 11 units. No corrections etc.
Lunch was 78 carbs, and 2 hours after I was at 141. Couldn't ask for much better.
I'm down to below 55 units of insulin, though may go up today. I tend to eat more on dog agility nights, partly because of the drive, partly to make sure I don't go low during class.
I still use more insulin with Apidra than I did with Novalog, though that might change if I can keep my exercise level up and my carb intake level low.

Hi Kweaver,
I read your comments about the bad press diabetes get. I was diagnose with Type 1 at the age of 28 and was terrified of not being able to work due to diabetes (stereotype) I made sure to never call in sick and smile through it. Today I had a low at work that scared me. I posted about it but still do not know what to do.

I HAVE BEEN A TYPE 1 DIABETIC FOR 45 YEARS. I HAVE USED EVERY TYPE AND BRAND OF INSULIN THAT YOU CAN NAME. ON OCT. 3, 2006 I STARTED USING THE MEDTRONIC INSULIN PUMP. MY DOCTOR WAS TELLING ME ABOUT A NEW INSULIN CALLED APIDRA. HE TOLD ME IT LOOKED LIKE IT WOULD HELP WITH SOME OF THE PROBLEMS I WAS HAVING. BETWEEN LANTUS AND REGULAR INSULIN I WAS TAKING OVER 200 UNITS A DAY. TAKING THE APIDRA HAS BEEN GREAT!!!!!!!!!!! I NOW TAKE LESS THAN 100 UNITS PER DAY. MY AVERAGE RIGHT NOW IS 94 UNITS. SINCE I AM USING THE PUMP THIS IS THE ONLY INSULIN I TAKE. I AM SUPER PLEASED. THIS IS THE BEST I'VE FELT IN YEARS. I AM 51 YEARS OLD AND I'M READY TO START LIVING AGAIN.
